Welcome Letter

Dear Colleagues,

Our biannual congress moves towards the north of Europe to Aalborg in Denmark in 2020 where you can be assured that you shall be made to feel most welcome by our hosts from the Danish Association for Clinical Sexology.
We hope that you can explore and enjoy Nordic hospitality with our joint congress sharing culture, knowledge and experiences from across the breadth of modern sexology. Diversity and inclusion are essential components of our education, practice and advocacy today and we shall be championing this message during our promotion for the congress and throughout our time together in Denmark.
It is our sincere intention to include you into our programme in whatever way that you would hope for and to meet with you personally during our next congress in 2020.

Kevan Wylie

President, European Federation of Sexology (2017-2020)

Welcome Letter

It is my pleasure to inform you that the meeting is planned to take place in Aalborg, Denmark, November 23rd – 26th   2020. Aalborg is considered to be one of the best 25 small cities in the world, at factors such as the quality of public transport, lively metabolism and progressive local government, among other things, according to Monocle’s inaugural Small Cities Index.

The European Federation of Sexology has over 50 active societies and also individual members. The society hosts a congress each other year in which new scientific results are presented within the fields of urology, gynecology, psychiatry, endocrinology, general medicine and psychology.
The society is working for interdisciplinary exchange of new knowledge among health professionals and mental health workers regarding sexology and sexual health. EFS also works for educating young colleagues in the field of sexology by promoting courses and exams directed at qualifying a new generation in sexual medicine and psychosexology.
The advent of chapter 17 in the diagnostic manual ICD-11, ratified by the WHO general assembly in May 2019, places sexual health in a central position in the totality of human health issues. The profession of sexology has been one main contributor to the understanding and the implementation of sexual health.
During the congress interesting discussions arise among the international participants and networking is a valued part of these meetings.
We aim at having 450 participants from the whole world.
The congress venue will be in Aalborg Culture and Congress Center in the heart of Aalborg. The Congress Center is ISO 20121 certified meaning that sustainability is in our minds.

Best regards

Astrid Højgaard

Chairwoman of The Local Committee
